Hi Heather, 
they are Blue Butterfly Pea Flowers, also known as Blue Clitoria (I leave you to guess why, lol). 
They&#039;re indeed edible and particularly tender when just out of bud. Full of antioxidants (anthocyanin), with zero carbs.
If these flowers are not native to your region, you can probably buy dried ones online. I use the dried flowers to make blue tea and in place of commercial food colouring, by submersing a handful of dried flowers in cold water and steeping for about 30 mins, before pressing the lot into a fine sieve mesh to obtain a dark blue liquid. Adding an acid such as lemon juice, turns the blue liquid to pink or purple, depending on how much you add. You can colour icing and frosting with this method - no flavour, other than a faint herby note, and obviously the colour will be also be subtle.]]></description>
